This inexpensive Rover RM-75 F-Style Mandolin has exceeded my expectations. The Rover has the fit & finish of a much more expensive instrument, and the tone & volume are more than adequate. The basic instrument setup and an upgraded case are well worth the extra cost. My only complaint is that it took 25 days to receive the mandolin from Instrument Alley. I received notice two days after placing the order that there would be a 11 day delay. I was okay with the initial delay, but the 11 day delay grew excruciatingly to 25 days. In summary, terrific mandolin, great value, terrible shipping experience.

The solid wood Rover mandolin is a good fit to my string instrument collection. The fit and finish is very good. Glad to have it.

The instrument plays very well and i'm looking foward to many years of playing fun. The set up done in your shop was very good. I only had to make a few tweeks to get a great sound. I would recommend you business to my friends.

Good price but...

...there was a delay in the shipping. Apparently someone else ordered a lot of my instrument, so when the shipment came in, the other person got the entire order, causing my order to wait until the next shipment. This was never explained to me until 4-5 months AFTER I waited and complained. I was only told that they were still waiting and sometimes this happens when things are backordered. The prices are good, but communication was lacking.

I have played guitar for 16 years and about a year ago started to play the mandolin as well. I got a Fender FM-53s, A-style. It was a decent instrument but I decided to try out the Rover. The Rover is definitely an upgrade. The solid wood construction is great, and it's absolutely beautiful. With both these mandolins I took them to an instrument repair man and had them professionally set up. When these mandolins ship from the factory there is still some fine tuning (no pun intended) that they need in order to sound right and not have fret buzz, etc. The repair man reshaped the nut and leveled all the frets. It sounds like a dream now. Cost me $125, but it's worth it. Keep in mind that you'll likely need some level of set up done on any new instrument you buy.
