I bought the a style mandolin kit for my best friend for his birthday. He plays a f style. He really likes it he said the he love the wood and the neck and that he can custom it. I'll send pictures when he's done. Thank you so very much.

The kit turned out to be well worth the wait time and price that I paid. Even though and possibly because the instrument has been partially assembled for you, there is still  fair challenge for a moderately experienced woodworker to complete the constuction with a quality to be proud of. They do a good deal of the hard work for you; you do the sanding final shaping  construction and finishing. A really fun project!

5 of 5 A GREAT Kit for a GREAT Price July 20, 2013

I ordered & received 4 Saga AM-10 kits from Instrument Alley.  All 4 were packed well.  The kits were shipped/received quickly.  Each kit contained all of the items on the inventory sheet in the quantities indicated.  

The soundboards have a very nice figure to them.  The backboards do have a little flame.  I don't see any gouges/deep tool marks.

I've read on the MandolinCafe where some of the backboards were not wide enough to fit the sides.  Each of my 4 backboards is nearly 1/4 inch over the rim all around it.

The pieces dry fit together well.  There are minor imperfections that can be easily fixed.  The curves look good. I didn't expect perfection for the price and I'm VERY pleased with the 4 kits and the price Instrument Alley sold them for.

I'll be using Tru-Oil finish on all of them and feel each kit will take a good finish.

You won't find a cheaper price than Instrument Alley.  Order two and get free shipping!

I'm looking forward to building these!
