Here's what I love about this Kentucky KM-272 (-after I set it up. The bridge was initially too high and I had to smooth the ends of the frets at the edge on the neck. No bigs).
1. It rings like bell. The G and D strings are really full, loud and resonate like crazy. The E strings are not shrill or annoyingly bright.
2. The intonation is dead on. All the way up the neck (which is unusual for an inexpensive mando).
3. The frets are low and even. Can set the action up super-duper low.
4. The tuners do not slip. They work as well as any high end tuners I have on other instruments
5. Stays in tune. I have other instruments that drive me nuts, keeping in tune.

I have NO idea how Kentucky can make and sell these instruments (with a really nice case) at this price. If you are a Beginner and looking for a starter mandolin, you can NOT go wrong with this mandolin. Btw, the customer service here, is great.
