Living in Switzerland, I was in a situation where I could try out a PBR, which sounded very nice (but the price here was SFr. 1500.-). So I looked online, to find out about this guitar. And after finding many good reviews on the PBR, I landed by "Instrument Alley", where Ben offered the guitar (with a passive Fishman pick-up and a Hardshell case) for $ 576.40. He did all his best to manage my order and the PBR was sended at the 27th. of February and arrived in good condition at my doorstep at the 10th of March. The costumcharge in Switzerland was about SFr. 60.- I am very happy with the PBR! It sounds great (clear and warm with a solid attack) and it looks sooo pretty!
Thank you Ben!

Gold Tone PBR

The guitar didn't ship until 12 days after I ordered it. It did come in excellent shape and the setup was good so that counts for something.
The PBR is a very satisfying guitar with a great sound that varies from where you pick. Very bright with a pick and full with the fingers. The action is pretty low which is good for fretting, but I not for slide. Still, my bottleneck works well with it and the string tension is pretty stiff. The guitar is made in China and the one I received didn't have pearloid tuners but rather chrome ones. I do think the pearloids would have looked nicer overall. The tuners are Grover knock-offs and feel kinda cheap but so far they've stayed in tune pretty well. I'm not quite sure if it's accurate that the guitar has a lifetime warranty as on the Goldtone site, wood-bodied instruments are stated to be covered for 5 years. However, the build is very solid. I don't expect it in pieces anytime soon. Overall, I'm very glad to have bought this instrument.

I have played acoustic guitar for 30 years for pleasure and in church bands. I recently purchased the Gold Tone Paul Beard Signature Resonator guitar just for a change of pace without ever having played it or even seen it. I found that Instrument Alley had, by far, the best price, so I decided to go for it. It arrived promptly and was packed incredibly well. There was not a mark on it, and it is beautiful. It has an absolutely fantastic sound, bright and clear on the high notes, full and rich on the low notes. The action is fast and it stays in tune for days with just the most minor "tweak" needed. I highly recommend this guitar and Instrument Alley. I will definitely buy from them again.

Gold Tone PBR Resonator Guitar

My Gold Tone PBR resonator arrived today. Wow! What a great sounding guitar! I've owned several spider bridge resonators including a Crafters of Tennessee TN10, a Crafters of Tennessee TN9 (biscuit) , and a Martin ALternative II. The two Crafters of Tennessee guitars cost about $2500 each. The Gold Tone sounds every bit as good as those. The bottom end is incredible. The volume and projection is awesome. The looks of the guitar are also great. This is a quality instrument. I want to thank you for the great deal. I can't believe that this guitar only costs $549 (with a hardshell case and free shipping). If you want to spend $2500 for a custom built resophonic guitar go ahead but believe me you don't need to. Paul Beard and Gold Tone have a winner. InstrumentAlley also rocks! Thanks again!
