Description

Maple, rosewood fingerboard, double adjustment truss rod, & flat heel cut.

Gold Tone B1003-02 Maple Classic Kit Banjo Neck - Unfinished Features:
  • Maple Neck
  • Rosewood Fingerboard
  • Snowflake (Diamond) Inlay in Mother of Pearl
  • Unfinished - Ready to apply stain and lacquer
  • Heel cut for Open-Back banjo
Each neck will be shipped with a flat heel cut unless you indicate that you would like a flange heel.
  • Flat cuts are normally mounted on open-back banjo pots. Most bluegrass banjos require a "flange cut." Gold Tone can install this cut using Gibson specs for either a one piece flange or tube and plate design.
  • If you would like a flange heel cut we can not guarantee a perfect fit unless Gold Tone installs the neck on your pot. All heel cuts are done using specific jigs (tooling) and are extremely difficult to fit properly by using hand tools. Normal woodworking jigs work fine.
  • An outline of your pot assembly on a piece of paper can be used in some instances for fitting but to ensure a proper fit, the entire assembly in shop would be best.

Installation Option: Please inquire for current pricing. You would need to send your pot assembly in to the shop for this.

Banjo necks are not returnable so if you are not sure if your pot will fit this neck you, will need to send it to us or to Gold Tone for proper fitting.

5 of 5 Great affordable 5 string neck May 2, 2017
Reviewer: Tony Wilson from Louisville, KY United States
I needed a neck for a flea market purchased banjo. I couldn't find an affordable vintage 5 string neck, so I took a chance and bought this basic Gold Tone neck. I'm happy with the purchase.  The heel fits the 11" open back pot perfectly. A few coats of Tried & True finish really brings out the maple grain. A good buy.

4 of 5 solid quality replacement neck February 2, 2014
Reviewer: Mark from Germany
I am very satisfied with the quality of the wood and the craftsmanship. The peghead is one piece, very beautiful flamed grain pattern, you do not want to cover that with an overlay. The fret slots are cleanly cut, but since the binding is already glued onto the neck, it takes some patience cutting each fret to size and filing down the edges before putting them in. The binding is black plastic, nothing elegant, has some sanding marks that can be polished out. The neck is shaped and ready for final sanding (320 and finer). I put on a low-gloss Danish oil finish, about 6 coats, final sanding with 600 wet or dry. Has a very nice feel to it. The heel is prepared for a pot without a flange, but it is flat (i.e. not rounded). For shaping, you'd better have the right tools, this is not a job to be done by hand. The inlays on the fretboard are cleanly done, as are the position dots in the binding. Double truss rod included. Very nice neck for the price.
